We are not Homo sapiens,Wise Man. We are the third chimpanzee.

What distinguishes us from the ordinary chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) and the bonobo chimpanzee (Pan paniscus), is something far more subtle than our enormous brain.

It is what that brain makes possible.

And the most significant contribution that our large brain made to our approach to the universe was to endow us with the power of story.

We are Pan Narrans, the storytelling ape.

Latter Day Plays

Pan Narrans presented Neil LaBute’s collection of three short plays as part of Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. Directed by Rhiann Jeffrey, starring Michael Patrick and Amanda Doherty.

Pastie Bap Review - Pan Narrans advertise themselves as ‘Storytelling at its purest‘, and BASH could be described as nothing less, just great acting and great stories being told in a very visceral and thought-provoking way.

Ghost Stories

Created in conjunction with Accidental theatre

An evening of Ghostly stories and short plays at Accidental Theatre. A number of the pieces were directed by Oisín Kearney. The evening featured Michael Patrick’s physical retelling of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven.

How These Desperate Men Talk

Directed by Oisín Kearney, starring Michael Patrick and Owen McCavana. This short play by Enda Walsh was performed back to back for three hours on Belfast Culture Night.

Starring Michael Patrick, directed by Oisín Kearney, sound design by Katie Rogers. This one-man adaptation of Macbeth was performed at The Lyric Theatre’s Naughton Studio.
